Is what I learned
in dental school about root canal therapy still pertinent? Why
does a tooth need root canal therapy? How does a dentist
diagnose that endodontic treatment is necessary? Why does
root canal therapy sometimes fail?
Any dentist who wants to review the basics
and keep up with the newest philosophies, techniques and
technology will find this lecture series beneficial to his/her
practice. All aspects of endodontics will be covered.
Starting with a review of the biologic basis
for Endodontic therapy with regard to pulp and periapical
pathology, we will examine diagnostic procedures to determine
the proper treatment plan whether it be endodontic or related to
other etiological factors.
The newest technological advances employed in
endodontics such as microscopy and cone beam technology are
included in this lecture. We will discuss the proper use of
rotary instrumentation and various obturation techniques.
We will review new
theories such as revascularization and the various uses of MTA.
Evaluating endodontic failures to determine their cause, we will
look at the various treatments available to increase the
percentage of success.
